After 13 years in the Royal Air Force, Drew developed training courses and documentation for a medical equipment manufacturer in the UK. Working in the biomedical engineering field after moving to Canada in 1990, he developed a user manual for a prototype health care device and wrote policy and procedures manuals in preparation for his company's ISO 9001 registration. In 1998 Drew decided to move into full-time technical writing. Having taken courses in modern programming languages (C++, Java) and Internet technologies HTML 4.0, JavaScript, XML), he is now writing Java API documentation, entirely in XML, for cryptographic software.
