STC Press announces anthology on training in technical communication
A new anthology from the STC Press provides information to industry, government, and research organizations that wish to implement communication programs in-house. The book, In-House Training in Technical Communication, provides information on teaching an array of communication skills to managers and content experts, such as computer programmers, engineers, scientists, accountants, and researchers. "Technical communicators often find (themselves) thrust into the role of communication trainer, sometimes not totally |
by choice," writes Robert M. Brown, editor of the anthology, in the introduction. "Knowing how to design, write, and edit is very different from knowing how to design and develop a training course and how to teach the course effectively." The book is designed to help bridge the gap between practicing communication and teaching it. Chapters include articles on adult learning theory, course design and delivery, distance training, and sample courses. In-House Training in Technical Communication sells for $35 to STC members, and $50 to non-members. For ordering information, please contact Merrick Bechini by phone at (703) 522-4114, extension 202, or by email at merrick@stc-va.org. |
