Sharon is the Past President of the Eastern Ontario Chapter. She currently serves as the Membership Manager. If you've forgotten, people were asked questions about the programs, competition, membership directory, and newsletter. Here are your responses and what the executive is doing to address your concerns.
Programs
Overall, people were happy with last year's programs (each program averaged between 1.3 to 3 with 1 indicating very satisfied). However, there was a general consensus that there was still room for improvement. For example, concern was expressed about the qualifications of some of the presenters. The executive has agreed to apply much more stringent criteria in the future.
When asked why they could not attend events, most people responded that they were too busy both at home and work. To try and reduce the conflict with family obligations, the executive has moved the monthly meeting times. The 7:00-9:00 pm time slot has been shifted to 6:00-8:00 pm AND snacks will be included in the price of admission. Since price appeared not to be an issue, with a whopping 80% positive response, keeping the price down while providing more bang for your buck should be very popular.
Timing was the only item on which we were unable to get a clear consensus. It was split quite evenly. However, for one-day workshops, it has been recommended that they be held twice, once on a weekday and once on the weekend. This would then satisfy everyone's needs.
The response on the program offering was much more clear. Online help was definitely the most popular subject (87%), followed by the web (68%) and editing (61%). (Note: Respondents were allowed to select more than one subject.) As one respondent noted, "I hope the STC and ITE combine their efforts and budgets to offer a joint program this year." Guess what? As a result of your feedback, this year the STC will be putting on a joint program with the ITE. The STC will concentrate on online help ... |
