The chapter's Technical Publications and Online Communications competitions are over for another year. Now it's on to the International Competition with one of the strongest showings we've ever entered. No fewer than six entries--four print and two online--received the Distinguished Award from the judges, which automatically qualifies them for the International Competition.

Fifty-seven entries

This year's chapter competition was one of the strongest in recent years, with 35 print entries and 22 online entries. While most of the entries came, as expected, from Eastern Ontario, we also received some from as far afield as Montreal, Mississauga and Edmonton.

Congratulations to the winners

Judging that many entries required a total of 42 volunteer judges, experienced members who spent many hours reviewing up to five entries each. This was followed by a consensus meeting on November 24, when the judging teams assembled to compare notes and decide on which

entries were worthy of awards. Letters of congratulation and copies of the judges' comments went out to the winners just in time for Christmas. A full list of winners will be published in the next issue of Stimulus.

Award presentation

Many of the judges commented on the high standard of the entries this year, which do doubt accounts for the fact that a total of 38 entries received awards. Those awards will be presented at a special chapter event to be held on Thursday, February 25, at the RA Centre on Riverside Drive. Details of the event will be announced early in the New Year. Mark this event down on your calendars--it will be an opportunity not only to congratulate many of the award winners in person, but to see the winning entries on display.

Thanks are due to all 42 judges for their efforts. Also to the folks at PC DOCS/Fulcrum, who not only allowed us to use their facility as a drop-off point for entries, but also hosted the judges' meetings. Last but not least, thanks to our committee members Sheila Percival and Brian Morris, who since the summer have helped to put it all together.
