Tim Scapillato is the editor of Stimulus A record number of entries—35 print and 22 online—were submitted to this year's competition, but numbers alone are not the only measure of success. The high quality of this year's entries resulted in the presentation of 38 awards. Six of the entries—four print and two online—received Distinguished Awards, automatically qualifying them for the STC International Competition. This is one of the strongest showings ever by the Eastern Ontario Chapter. Judging of the international entries has been completed. The winners will be announced, and awards presented, at the STC annual conference in Cincinnati in May.
This year, both competitions received several entries from the Montreal Chapter, which was well-represented at the awards ceremonies by a delegation which drove up Highway 417 to receive awards and enjoy our hospitality. One recipient made the trip from Edmonton to receive an award, making this a truly national event. The publications competitions are the highlight of our chapter's annual events program, providing technical communicators the opportunity to showcase their talents and receive important critical feedback from their peers. |
