Federal Government Classification of Technical Writers

We received a request from a member to bring awareness to Federal Government employees of the impending classification review that could see CS-classified technical writers reclassified into a different group, such as AS (Administrative Services).

Government employees are a well-hidden bunch, and outreach to this group is tricky. If you are a technical writer with the Federal Government who is currently classified in the CS group—or even if you are a government technical writer currently classified under another group—we urge you to fill in the following short form we've set up so that we can gauge how important classification (or reclassification) is to you.

Note: Membership in the STC is not a prerequisite for filling out this form. The information you provide here will be held in the strictest of confidence and will only be used to help us determine if there is a need for the STCEO to act in an advocacy role if reclassification of technical writers is suggested by either the Treasury Board or PIPSC.
