Database Analyst / IM Administrator -- JN - 024 (Contract, 8 Months)

Microtime Inc is looking for an experienced consultant for a government contract for the support and maintenance of the Central Archiving application/system, and for the support and development of other systems as required.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • A minimum of Ten (10) years experience working as a Database Analyst/IM Administrator performing activities detailed in TBIPS SA for this category.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience designing and administering Livelink Collections Server (BASIS) databases.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience programming in Visual Basic with the Livelink Collections Server API.

Deliverables

  • Optimized database architecture.
  • Error free, accessible data efficiently loaded and stored on the database.
  • Identified categories of problems and appropriate solutions implemented.

Senior Technical Writer – Enterprise Documentation (Contract, 5 Months)

Plan, organize, and write developer documentation for Adobe’s LiveCycle ES products. Generate new content by using the products, and working with the Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, Technical Support, and other organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with field personnel to fully understand customer issues and address them in our documentation
  • Work with Quality Assurance during testing cycles
  • Plan and structure documentation set to meet the audience needs
  • Write documentation for new Adobe LiveCycle ES components
  • Attend project meetings to represent documentation deliverables and project status
  • Deliver high quality documentation by aggressive dates
  • Work within an Agile software development environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work on technically complex writing projects
  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient with FrameMaker
  • Experience with Adobe Flex Builder would be an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-based, dynamic team-based environment

Senior Technical Writer (Full-time)

Company Overview:

In August of 2007, Cactus Commerce signed an agreement with Microsoft Corporation to become the joint development partner for Microsoft Commerce Server, including collaboration on product engineering, partner ecosystem development, marketing, pre-sales, services and support. Objectives:

  • Working in partnership with Microsoft to deliver support for new product releases of Microsoft Commerce Server and a series of new Accelerator products.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews project plans and engineering specifications to develop draft documentation.
  • Interviews subject matter experts to obtain additional product information during the draft creation phase.
  • Develops documentation on schedule and is accountable for meeting key project milestones.
  • Reports on progress, schedules, and requirements.
  • Manages the documentation review process to ensure reviews take place in a timely manner and the required material has been provided.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage time effectively when working on more than one project concurrently, as well as the ability to organize and structure large amounts of technical information.
  • A strong team-player capable of establishing meaningful and effective partnerships with our development, test, and product/program management teams and external partners.
  • Must be familiar with the writing process and possess excellent written and project management skills.
  • Experience writing for technical audiences (especially software developers and IT Pros)
  • Strong technical background with an understanding of an audience that consumes Software Developer, IT Pro, and Business User documentation
  • Some knowledge of SQL and database concepts, knowledge of IIS is an asset.
  • Previous experience providing SDK-level content is a plus
  • Ability to write global English and understand localization requirements.
  • Ability to tailor writing style to meet the needs of specific target audiences.
  • Knowledge of e-Commerce concepts (i.e.: B2B and B2C) is highly desirable
  • Experience writing F1 help is also desirable

Education/Experience:

  • Technical Writing Diploma, or B.A. in English (in combination with demonstrated technical abilities/knowledge)
  • Engineering or Computer Science degree (in combination with demonstrated writing skills and/or equivalent technical writing experience).
  • 3-5 years technical writing experience.
